We decided to eat our Thanksgiving dinner at noon. This decision was well thought out. The first reason was that many toddlers were going to be enjoying dinner with us. I knew that they would need to nap and that if we were to eat a late lunch they would be a bit crabby through the whole thing. The second reason was very selfish, we wanted to be able to go shopping asap Thanksgiving night :) There were six of us who braved the cold (it wasn't that cold), traffic and crowds to try to get some midnight deals.
The tradition of shopping the day after Thanksgiving or Thanksgiving night has been one that I really enjoy but it isn't so much about the great deals anymore. It is more about the fun of being with friends and seeing the crowds. I find myself shopping more for others than myself these days. The last few years James has also wanted to come along with me and to be honest only Tacia and the little ones were left at home! The older three kids all wanted to go shopping as well. Maybe next year our whole family will have to go!
